French market recommended to investors

14 November 2007

A new high-speed rail link could potentially boost France's popularity among British property investors, according to a media report.

The Telegraph stated that estate agents in France widely believed that the introduction of a new service by Eurostar would lead to more Britons investing in the country.

Earlier today, the route between St Pancras International and Paris was launched for the first time.

The service has attracted considerable attention as a result of its reduced journey times, as it allows passengers to traverse the distance in just two hours and 15 minutes.

This is approximately 20 minutes faster than previous Eurostar train routes and a development that allows it to provide stronger competition to the aviation sector.

Speaking to BBC News, rail minister Tom Harris said: "We're giving people who want to make those journeys a proper choice so they're not forced to travel by plane."
