Property buyers can find bargains in France
14 November 2009
Those looking to invest or buy property in France can find a lot of bargains in the country, it has been stated.
In a feature on the subject, expat magazine Shelter Offshore listed a number of examples of cheap deals available, including some where the property needs restoring.
Some of the offers included a two-bedroom house needing renovation in Saint Tugdual in Brittany, as well as a stone cottage in a "stunning position in half an acre of garden on the edge of a tiny hamlet" in the mid-Pyrenees that requires a full restoration.
Both of these are available for around €50,000 (£44,600), the portal noted.
Those priced higher than this - but still affordable - include a €65,000 home near Chateauponsac, in the Limousine region, which is close to Limoges airport and could potentially be turned into tourist residential accommodation.
Last month, director of Shelter Offshore Rhiannon Davies said Britons moving to France tend to look for a rural location that offers "the best balance between escapism and finding great weather, a fantastic lifestyle and an affordable cost of living".
