Sir Norman Foster designer homes to be built in Paris

16 March 2009

In the heart of Paris, plans are being made for a new mixed-use community called Hermitage Plaza. This new development will have two of the tallest towers in Europe – and the tallest in Western Europe – that are being designed by Sir Norman Foster and his firm, Foster + Partners.

The project is set for the area east of La Defense and is meant to create a sustainable, high-density community along the banks of the River Seine. The project is set to begin construction in 2010 and be completed in 2014. There will be a luxury hotel, spa, apartments, offices, serviced apartments and retail shops, all of which will add a new feel to this busy area.

Sir Norman Foster noted that “Hermitage Plaza will create a 24-hour community that will regenerate the riverfront and inject new life into a predominantly commercial part of the city. A light catching addition to the Paris skyline, the development will also provide a public piazza that leads down to the river’s edge to create a new destination for the city.”
