Winter shopping season to be launched in Paris

The Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau will be hosting an annual event this week to celebrate the forthcoming launch of the city's winter sales.
In partnership with City Hall, the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Atout France and other organisations, the bureau has introduced a programme featuring seven themed shopping itineraries.
Based on topics including fashion, culture and the French capital's famous landmarks, the routes will take in dozens of addresses around the city.
Before setting off on their trip, travellers can visit the Shopping by Paris website to see some of the itineraries and explore a section dedicated to special offers and discounts.
The Paris Shopping Book, a free guide to the city's retail scene, can be downloaded from the site and will be available from Paris Convention and Visitors Bureau welcome centres from January 2010.
Several events and activities will take place in the French capital between 6 and 9 January to mark the beginning of the winter sales, including free tours on electric tricycles.
